Healthy Vs Unhealthy

I want to talk about this topic because now people are begun to eat more and more junk food. One of the reasons maybe is there are lots of fast food restaurants, McDonald’s, H&W, Burger King, Wendy’s, KFC, etc. In addition, people have less time to do them own meals at home because they have to work or study too many hours so in my case is the same. Usually, when I’m studying in Monterrey I eat unhealthy food every day, hamburgers, pizza, French fries, hot dogs and stuff like that. I live away from my family so I have to cook my own meals and I don’t know how cook so for me is easier to buy fast food. Also, I don’t like do sports but I must to try to do it.
However, here in Calgary I’m trying to eat very healthy because my host mom is vegetarian and she taught me some meals easy to make and very healthy. I’ll try to do my best.

Notting Hill.... =)

Notting Hill is a nice story I really enjoyed it. This is kind of surreal story about a strange that meets a famous actress. I think it´s only happen in the movies like this. I liked it because I´m a romantic person too and I enjoy comedy romantic movies and stories. Thinking about the characters, they were so good in the movie. I liked all of them. They were very singular and unique.

If I have to decide which part is my favorite I could say it was the last chapter because at the end of the story they are living kind of normal life they´re finally together, seating in the park, she is pregnant and they´re looking very happy.

Also, because of this book I could improve some skills in my reading and writing class, being able a good activity for the others classes too.

Housewok....when I was a child

When I was a child I did different kinds of chores. It because I’m the older of my siblings and then, I needed to help too much to my mom; I washed the dishes, took out the garbage, I did the laundry and cleaned the windows, between others activities. I think the housework is no very easy, it take a lot of time to do it, but when you finish all the chores you have to do, you really feel good. However, now the housework is not only women work, the men should help in it as well. Thinking about the housework is only for women is thinking very sexist.
On the other hand, When you have housekeeper it’s turn very easy because you don’t have to do anything, but being able to do by yourself the same activities you can do it without pay to anybody. And it’s better for do exercise.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed to did all the chores than I had to do, actually more than now because I getting very busy whit my University work.

The Cultural Shock

It has been an interesting experience living in Canada and being able to experience the differences between my culture and the Canadian culture.
The first contrast I see is in the life in the cities. In my hometown, there are over 10 million people in a smaller space. Here in Calgary there are less people however people is still stressed about the traffic and the organization, when compared to my country is would be a perfect very organized city.
I’m not sure why people seems to be less stressed about the problems of the city, maybe is because people is used to it and have other things to worry about, in contrast people worry about other things that Canadians don’t worry about like the access to a good health care system or an education.
Additionally, there are many other cultural differences. The family values are very different. Sometimes I would think that there are not values, but after thinking about it, it is just different. People in Canada are very independent, contrarily in Mexico families are the center of society and people thinking about the family first and then about them.
Family days are very important, and we always try to have family time. Here people seem to have a better balance between family and the individual.
This is why I think that there is a cultural shock, not exactly because one culture is better than the other, but different and unique.

Talking about gatgets...

I want to buy another laptop because mine is broken and I need the laptop for do many things. The laptop is very useful, I can take it everywhere so I can study, go into the internet, and whenever I want. With it also, I can download different kinds of programs, they are useful to listen to music, watch videos, movies, and games. In addition, here in Calgary the laptops are cheaper than in México, and these are the reasons to buy a new laptop here.

Unusual pet

If I could choose any animal in the world as a pet, I’ll choose a tiger. I think tigers are beautiful animals but over than that so smart animals. Maybe would be there some problems because tigers are endangered animals and also, they are dangerous for the people. In addition they need a lot of meat to survive and it is so expensive. However I think a tiger could be an exotic pet so interesting and really different to others pets. On the other hand, I’m an animal defender and it isn’t good for these animals.

Banff

Last weekend I went to Banff with other students of the ESL Program. I think Banff is a beautiful place to go in Alberta, Canada. There are a many great places to visit. I went first to Johnston Canyon to hike and it’s an awesome place, it has a cave and I took a picture there. After that, we went to Lake Louise and it was a lot of fun, because it was snow and we played snow balls. Also, I think Lake Louise is romantic scenery to go with your girlfriend or boyfriend. Then, we went to the Hostel Bear to sleep there.
The next day we went to a farm to do horseback riding, I loved it, because horses are good and smart animals and I do horseback riding all the time that I can, maybe once a week. After that, we went to Sulphur Mountain and there I took many photos of the sceneries. I really enjoyed it.

If I was a wealthy girl

If I won the lottery of $10 million, I would like to spend the money in some things. First of all, I would to buy a villa in Mexico or South America, I would to travel a lot around the world the first country I want to visit is Spain, I want to go to Madrid for study a master degree. In addition, I would to buy a car, exactly a Mercedes car. I love the horses and also, I want to buy a really nice horse, I think horses are smart animals and I love horseback riding, too. Maybe if I was a wealthy girl, I would help poor people to study in good universities like the U of C. But I’m poor now, so that it’s.

The best place to live in Mexico

I think Monterrey is a very good city to live there, first of all, quality of life in general is very good, the natural surrounding areas are gorgeous, is very close to the US border 250 kilometers away from Laredo, Texas. Monterrey is a big city, aprox. 3.5 millions living there. It is the headquarters for some of the largest companies of Mexico, like Cemex the second largest cement company in the world. It’s an industrial city, a lot of multinational companies have either offices or plants in there. The weather is kind of hot in summer, but in winter is cool.Second, the night clubs have been the center of attraction in Monterrey. The "Barrio Antiguo" is becoming more popular as a night-spot. You can go to a night clubs until about 11pm or even midnight, since they keep going all morning and people will start to leave at around 5 or 6 am.
In addition, the city has beautiful surroundings, with fascinating places for ecotourism and adventure tourism. Grottoes, cascades, dams, canyons, mountains and fascinating villages are just some of the attractions.
Finally, for all of these reasons, the Monterrey city is a great place to live, we can have culture, ecotourism, a good economy, and fun in the same place.
